What is a EUR1 Certificate?
A EUR1 Certificate is a movement certificate used to prove that goods qualify as originating under
certain preferential trade agreements between South Africa and European partner countries.
When the origin rules are met and a valid EUR1 is presented, importers can benefit from reduced
or zero customs duties in the destination country.
Before you can benefit from duty preferences using a EUR1 Certificate, customs authorities must be satisfied that your goods meet the relevant rules of origin. This requires accurate HS classification, reliable supplier or manufacturing records and correctly completed EUR1 documentation.
Important Information for EUR1 Users
- All supporting documents must be submitted as clear, legible copies. Incomplete or inconsistent information can lead to delays, customs queries or denial of preferential treatment at the border.
